Every founder starts with an idea—but how do you know if it’s worth pursuing? Here are three quick signs that your idea might have legs:
1. Real Pain Point
If your idea solves a real, recurring problem that people are actively trying to fix (even in inefficient ways), you’re onto something. Look for signs like workarounds, complaints in forums, or poor existing solutions.
2. People Say “Take My Money”
Validation goes beyond compliments. If people express genuine interest in paying or joining a waitlist—even before you’ve built the product—it’s a strong signal.
3. Market Exists, But Gaps Remain
Completely new markets are risky. If there are competitors, that’s a good thing—it proves demand. Your job is to offer a sharper focus, better UX, or target an underserved niche.
Don’t fall in love with the idea. Fall in love with the problem. Then test ruthlessly.
